A week long cruise will enable you to take in both cities of Bristol & Bath at a leisurely pace. Our recommendations for a one week itinerary are as follows....
DAY 1
Cruise West from Hanham Lock and cruise downstream of the River Avon towards Bristol. The scenery changes from open, green countryside to interesting industrial heritage as you enter Bristol city. There is only one lock to navigate - Netham Lock - on the outskirts of the city. Cruise into the city centre and moor up amongst the industrial and maritime heritage of Bristol Floating Harbour.
DAY 2
Spend some time taking in the sights of Bristol. Maybe visit the SS Great Britain - Brunel's first steam and iron ship or perhaps visit '@ Bristol' - a hands on science and discovery attraction both located within easy reach of the harbour. Alternatively a short bus ride away and you can be in the trendy 'Clifton Village' sampling fashionable boutiques and unusual, arty shops and Durdham Downs which is often host to outdoor shows and events.
DAY 3
Return eastbound to Hanham Lock and continue your cruise towards Bath. After Netham Lock, there are six others to navigate (including Hanham Lock itself) on your journey back to Bath City centre.
DAY 4
Bath is worth a day trip in itself. With so many attractions it's difficult to single out one or two but we would recommend an open-top bus tour of the city to get an overall look at the city's history. For the shop-aholics there is a wonderful selection of independant shops or if you fancy abit of pampering, then visit the new Thermae Bath Spa.
DAY 5
Cruise onwards through the Limpley Stoke Valley taking in the Dundas and Avoncliffe Aquaducts. Head to Bradford on Avon and maybe stop off at one of the many pubs and restaurants en-route.
DAY 6
Start your return journey westbound back towards Bath.
DAY 7
Arrive back at Hanham Lock for the 9am check out.
